Vernon Chelvon Holloway

Mr. Vernon Holloway , 54, of Pinetown, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Greenville, N.C.

Vernon Chelvon Holloway was born on June 5, 1969, to the union of the late Vernon Lee Holloway and the late Vera Davis Holloway in Belhaven, N.C.

Vernon received his formal education in the Beaufort County School and Geary County School systems. He furthered his education at Lexington Truck Driving School in Lexington, N.C.

Vernon was united in holy matrimony to LaShonda Corprew Holloway on June 29, 1996, in Belhaven, N.C. Their beautiful union was blessed with three children.

Vernon was the owner and operator of Holloway Trucking, LLC for nine years and his handle name was the “Paper Chaser I”.

Paper Chaser I passed the torch down to his sons and grandson to carry on his Legacy. Paper Chaser II, currently holds a CDL endorsement whereas, Paper Chaser III and Paper Chaser IV, were in training.

Vernon enjoyed trucking, fishing, deejaying and his family and friends.

Vernon was a joy to be around with the demonstration of his uniqueness of character and carried a contagious smile but did not hold any punches.

As we all know, life happens!

Vernon was very devastated when he received the news that he needed a kidney transplant. Vernon’s wife LaShonda, decided to test to see if she was a match, Praise God LaShonda was a perfect match! Unfortunately, Vernon didn’t get the opportunity to receive her kidney because of the untimely departure.

Vernon departed this life on Thursday, March 7, 2024. He was preceded in death by mother, Vera Davis Holloway; father, Vernon Lee Holloway; Sister, Robin Holloway; and brother, Marvin Holloway.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, LaShonda Corprew Holloway; children, TaMichael Chelvon Holloway (Paper Chaser II), Plymouth, N.C., Ve’Era Chelnira Holloway, Elijah Chelvon Holloway (Paper Chaser III) and Furbaby Blossom Holloway, of the home ; Vernon aka “Popi” to grandchildren, Tristen Chelvon Holloway Paper Chaser IV, Greenville, N.C., and Kase Chelvon Holloway, Plymouth, N.C; siblings, Octavia Brewington, Belhaven, N.C., Angelicque L. Mazyck (Maurice), New York, N.Y., Bertram Holloway, Bertrand Holloway, and Fannie Holloway, Houma, L.A., Delilah  Powell (Money) Jackson, M.S. ; step mother, Lucy Holloway Houma, L.A.; mother-in-law, Brenda C. Fulcher (Pop- Melvin) Chocowinity, N.C.; father-in-law, Billy Ebron Washington, N.C.; brother-in- law, Eric Corprew Washington,N.C., Tajuante Corprew Robersonville, N.C., and Antonio Corprew ( Myra) Chocowinity, N.C; spiritual parents, Rev. Rena and William Dial Prince George, V.A; brothers-in-kind, Corey Dial and Terrell Dial Lithonia, G.A.; sister-in-kind; Twanna Glover Rocky Mount, N.C.; special nephews, Edward Corprew Washington, N.C. and Isaiah Brewington Greensboro, N.C.; one special friend, John Spencer Washington, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
