Mrs. Vera Evette Brown, 64, of Tarboro, NC, passed away on Wednesday , February 12, 2025, in Rocky Mount, NC.

The Life and Legacy of Vera Brown    

Vera Evette Jones Brown was born May 2, 1960, to the union of Susie Mae Jones and the Late Raymond Bandy in Tarboro, NC.

Vera received her formal education at North Edgecombe High School in Leggett, NC. She was employed by Outreach Caregiver as a home health aid for thirty years. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, dancing, going to the nail shop, being around family, getting her hair done, and taken care of others.

Vera Brown departed this life on February 12, 2025. She was preceded in death by: father, Raymond Bandy; grandson, De’Vonte Burton; grandmother, Mary Jane Jones; and grandfather, Eddie Lee Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory: spouse, James Earl Brown of Tarboro, NC; children, Reginald Burton ( Jennifer), Demetri Burton both of Tarboro, NC, Taneka Carr (Jonathan) of Rocky Mount, NC, Toneita Gardner of Rocky Mount, NC, and Janika Brown of Tarboro, NC; eighteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; mother, Susie Mae Jones; siblings, Mary Whitehead of Tarboro, NC, Jacqueline Acklin (Eddie) of Williamston, NC, Essie Pugh (Mickey) of Woodland, NC, Velma Utley, Antoinette Ruffin both of Rocky Mount, NC; special friend, Kenneth Draughn, Verelina Johnson, and Gloria Fields; second mother, Mary Brown; a  favorite uncle, James Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends.
