Travis Lamont Jones

Mr. Travis Lamont Jones, 51, of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Greensboro, NC surrounded by his loving family.

Was born on May 22, 1972 in Greenville, NC. 

Travis, a military veteran, served overseas in Germany as a specialist, and as a sergeant during the Second Pursian Gulf War in Iraq. Travis recieved numerous medals and honors over his miltary career including the Global War on Terrorism, Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. 

He graduated from J.H. Rose HS in 1990. In 2012 Travis recieved his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University and in 2022 his certificate for Human Resources from Syracuse University. Professionally, Travis worked for the Volvo Group for 18 years. 

In his down time, Travis loved to learn. He was always seeking knowledge and to expand his horizons. Travis also appreciated a good HBCU band and 90s hiphop -- well really anything 90s related. He also had a love for sports, his favorite teams being the Duke Blue Devils, Michigan Wolverines, and the Carolina Panthers.

Travis also loved being a dad to both his own and his bonus kids, watching movies with his wife Iris and spending time with family. He was also really excited about welcoming his first grandson into the world. 

Travis loved God and was a member of TAF Seventh-Day Adventist church. He will be missed most for his laugh that could fill a room, his great sense of humor, those random military chants and his warm and genuine heart.

Travis was preceeded in death by his grandparents James & Gladys Teel, and Hugh Lester & Lishie Bell Jones. 

His legacy lives on through his wife of 4 years Iris, his mother Deloris (Floyd), his father Bobby Ray (Charlene), his children Varne't (Bralyn), Travis "TJ" (Kaly), Carmen, & Mia; his bonus kids Enrique "Kike", Amorelis "Amo", & Abby; his siblings Tanesha (Kendell), Bobby Jr. (Jessica), Kevin, Ereyka, Rachel & Jason; honarary brothers Ony, Atiba & Bobby; 8 aunts, 3 great aunts, 6 uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends who will miss him sorely.
