Mrs. Susan D. Barrow of Grifton, N.C. entered into eternal rest on February 14, 2023.
Susan Darlene Nelson Barrow was born to Mr. Johnnie Clayton and Mrs. Alberta “Bunch” Edwards Nelson on November 14, 1960. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. She graduated from the Craven County public school system and later furthered her education at Craven Community College, where she obtained Cosmetology and Nursing degrees, while also studying in Accounting. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.
Susan was a faithful member of True Deliverance Church for over twenty years. She loved her church family and loved being a servant for God. She would often say to her daughter “God is in control” or “Wait on God” or “Baby, there is power in prayer.”
Susan loved to spend time with her family, talk junk, pray for others, give encouraging words, and love on others all at the same time. She loved to give back to people and her community. She organized Toys 4 Tots for over twenty years for all children. She loved playing bingo, reading, completing crossword puzzles, and drinking Pepsi with Nutta Butta Waffles.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Johnnie Clayton Nelson and Mrs. Alberta “Bunch” Edwards Nelson; two sisters, Joan Edwards Mewborn and Loretta Nelson Chapman; brothers, Jill R. Nelson, Robert O. Edwards, Johnnie L. Cox, Ronnie L. Nelson, and Johnnie R. Nelson; and one special brother-in-law (father-in-kind), Benjamin Rosenboro.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband of twenty- eight years, Thomas Earl Barrow; daughter, Tia Fields all of the home; mother-in-law, Pinna Marie Barrow of Vanceboro, NC; godmother, Louise Hooks of Grifton, NC; four grandchildren, Alvonate T. Canady of Fort Barnwell, NC, and Jarriah T. Miller, Demarrce

Chapman of Grifton, NC, Michael Barrow of Vanceboro, NC, Christopher Barrow (Marie) of Durham, NC, and Julian Barrow of Vanceboro, NC; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Hope (James) and Carol Adams, both of Durham, NC, Carolyn Willoughby of Washington, NC, and Karen Barrow of Vanceboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She had a special individual bond with all of her cousins and friends.
