Ms. Shirley Archie of Washington, N.C. entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
Shirley Mae Archie (affectionately known as “BB”) was born August 20, 1936, in Pantego, North Carolina to the late John and Lena Bonner. Shirley peacefully transitioned from this life into GOD hands on July 23, 2022, in Washington, North Carolina. At an early age Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, she joined Queens Chapel Church in North Carolina where she was baptized.
Shirley graduated from Pantego high school in Pantego, NC and shortly after graduation Shirley moved to Washington, DC. Where she met and married the late Ezekiel Archie in 1957. From this union 4 children were born.
In 1964 Shirley started her 20-year career with the Children’s National Medical Center as a Dietician. After leaving Children’s National Medical Center she started a career with the DC Government working at Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant as a mailroom clerk. Which is where she retired.
After retirement Shirley became an active member of the New Bethel Church of God in Christ in Northwest, DC. Then she later moved her membership to Bright Light Baptist Church in Takoma Park, MD.
Shirley was the youngest of 8 children: Cora O’Neal (deceased), John Bonner Jr. (deceased), Annie Smith (deceased), Gladys Lovick, Christine Saunders (deceased), Mary Gerald (deceased) and Thelma Booth.
She is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son. Pauline Miller, Perry Archie, Penny Archie, and Pamla Archie. Oldest son Paul Archie Sr. preceded her in death. Shirley also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Lorenzo Miller, Paul Archie Jr., Danielle Anderson (Christopher), Ashley Durrett (Anthony), Evangeline Archie, Durrell Miller (Nina), Darrion Archie and Tiffany Passmore. Her second oldest grandson Pierre Turnage preceded her in death. She also leaves behind 1 son-in-law Arthur Miller, 14 great grandchildren, and one of her dearest friends Joyce Moore “Little Mama”. As well as a host of many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
