Mr. Samuel Draughn, 83, of Tarboro, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital, Tarboro, NC surrounded by his loving family.

 Legacy of Samuel Draughn

Samuel Draughn, affectionally known as “Sam”, was born on December 20, 1941, to the late Charlotte Pettway in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Samuel departed this earthly life on January 4, 2025 at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, North Carolina with his loving wife, Lue Ann Draughn of 49 years by his side.

Samuel was raised in Edgecombe County and attended Edgecombe County Public Schools. He drove trucks all over the states and that is how he met his beautiful wife, Lue in Perry, Florida. Samuel had a home improvement business for many years and met many people who loved his “straight to the point” spirit. After the business, Sam started working for the Town of Enfield as a Building Inspector until he retired.

Samuel leaves to cherish his memories: his beautiful wife of 49 years, Lue Ann Thomas Draughn of the home; four daughters, Barbara D. Draughn of Woodbridge, VA, Barbara A. Richardson (Pete) of Rocky Mount, NC, Evette Petteway (David) of Greenville, NC, and Tiffany Draughn (James) of Rocky Mount, NC; one son, Samuel Draughn, Jr. of Carthage, NC; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Clark and Helen Mayo both of Tarboro, NC, and Doris Knight of Washington, DC; one brother, Thomas Pettaway of Rocky Mount, NC; along with other siblings on his dad’s side that he recently discovered over the later years of his life; a host nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Sam will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him!
