Ms. Ruth Guilford of Chocowinity, N.C. entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2023.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Mother Guilford was born on March 3, 1940, to the late Willis and Sidney Ward of Beaufort, North Carolina. She departed this life on April 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Mother Guilford received her education in Bath, North Carolina. She was married the late Willie Coleman in 1956 and to their union three children were born. Mother Guilford worked various jobs including farm work and domestic housework all while raising her children.

Mother Guilford joined Back Swamp Church in September of 1999. She loved the church and worked faithfully there until her health failed.

Mother Guilford was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Bernell Ward, Willie Earl Ward, Clifton Ward, and James Ward. Three sisters; Clara Ward Windley, Frances Jackson, and Joyce Ward Godley.

To cherish her memories, she leaves two sons: Willie Ward of the home, Johnnie (Corina) Coleman of San Antonio, Tx. One Daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Blough of Clayton, North Carolina. Three grandchildren, Julia Charles, Johnnie Coleman, Jr., and Miquel Coleman of San Antonio, Tx. One sister, Magolene Keyes of Chocowinity, North Caroline. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
