Ms. Roberta Archie of Washington, N.C. entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2022.
Roberta Archie was born January 27, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Robert and Rosalie Woodridge. She was the third eldest daughter of six. On January 25, 2022, God granted her the mansion he promised in heaven where the streets are paved with Gold and where she can sing and dance his praises all the day long.
She was a charismatic, confident, and brave child. She attended 18th Avenue Elemtary school and Central High School in Newark, New Jersey. As a young adult she attended Mount Olive Baptist Church of Newark, New Jersey where she was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. That is where she devoted her time and services to the Lord. Shortly after she was ordained to evangelist. Roberta worked various jobs in New Jersey and retired from Annin Flag Company.
Roberta came to visit her youngest sone one summer in 1998 and loved North Carolina so much she decided to relocate. In 1999, Roberta joined Bethel Chapel Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Steve Davis. She loved her Pastor and she loved her church family. She later met and married the love of her life Benjamin (Ben) Allen.
Roberta loved to spend time with her loved ones singing, dancing, and cooking up a storm. To love her is have known her, many will remember her as an outspoken straightforward honest down to earth person. She was “ the life of the party” who possessed a great sense of humor and creator of radical dances. Her choice of words were sweet but could also cut like a knife, “Bert” was one of a kind.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Al- Jir Davis.
Roberta leaves to cherish her memories her husband Benjamin Allen; three children: Troy Boze, Tracy Archie, and Sidney Smith (Shonda); Lifetime son: Steven “Shakedown” Burroughs; two loving sisters: Marva Stevens and Donna Chatman; Eight loving grandchildren, Twelve great grandchildren and a massive host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
