Richard Earl Dixon, Sr.

Mr. Richard Earl Dixon, Sr., 78, of Farmville, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

The Life & Legacy of Richard Dixon, Sr.

Richard Earl Dixon, Sr. was born on April 5, 1946, to the union of the late Willie Jasper Dixon and Pearlie Mae Dancy Dixon in Farmville, NC. 

He received his formal education at H. B. Suggs High School in Farmville, NC. 

Richard was a true God-fearing man and believed that with Christ, anything was possible and could be accomplished.

On October 25, 1969, Richard was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Nellie Wilson in Stamford, CT. Their union was blessed with three children. 

Richard enlisted into the United States Army in January 1966. He was honorably discharged on February 1968. He was later employed by NRG Energy in Middletown, CT as a supervisor for over thirty years. In his leisure, he enjoyed taking pictures, grilling, RVing(camping), the ‘UConn’ basketball team, and the ‘New York Yankees’ baseball team. 

Richard departed this life on November 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Jasper and Pearlie Dixon; daughter, Angie Dixon; sisters, Mildred Rogers and Remathia Dixon; and brothers, Bernard Dixon, Jeffrey Dixon, and Jasper Dixon. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Nellie Wilson Dixon; children, Minister Shirley Moore and Richard E. Dixon, Jr. (Jackie); grandchildren, Steven Whitcomb, Shaleina Dixon, and  Alexis Dixon; great grandchildren, Malaya Dixon, Norah Whitcomb, and Zion Ianno; brother, Thurman Dixon; special aunt, Nannie Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, sister in laws, brother in laws, cousins, and friends.
