Nina Williams Obituary

Ms. Nina R. Williams of Farmville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on April 1, 2023.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them
also that love his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8

Nina Ruth Williams, daughter of the late Mamie Ruth Williams Hardy and the late John A. Dupree was born in Pitt County on July 28, 1934. Nina transitioned to her heavenly home early Saturday morning, April 1, 2023, at East Carolina Rehabilitation & Wellness in Greenville, North Carolina.
Nina, affectionately known by many as “Ruth”, was raised in the Kings Crossroads/Falkland Communities where she attended Dildy’s Chapel School and the local High School in Farmville, North Carolina. Ruth was an agricultural laborer for both Pierce and Howard D. Moye Farms in the Kings Crossroads Community. She also worked as a Tobacco Inspector for Dimon International Company, Inc. in Farmville, NC and for many years did private duty at Mrs. Ida Dail Tugwell Day Care (Granny Tug) before retiring. Ruth was an awesome cook and the family loved going to her home on Sundays or on any day for a delicious home cooked meal. The love she had for her family was immeasurable. Her home was always open to us all. The joy that family gatherings and dinners at her home brought to her heart was priceless. Ruth accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and attended Greater Life Community Church, in Greenville, North Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Tory V. Cox until her health began to fail. She was a very caring, loving, and devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were two sons, Robert Lee Williams and Connie Ray Williams; two sisters, Phyllis Ann Hardy and Ernestine Hardy; and three brothers, James Earl Hardy, John Walter Williams, and William Boyd Hardy.
Her loving memories will forever live in the hearts of: two daughters, Verna Lee Williams of the home and Janice Faye Williams of Brockton, MA; one son, Morris Earl Williams of the home; three sisters, Carolyn Jean Hardy, Patricia Hardy Ruffin (Donnie) and Paulette Hardy Bullock all of Greenville, NC; three grandchildren, Keshia Denise Williams of Farmville, NC, Quadrein May of Winterville, NC, and Donnetta Chanel Williams of Brockton, MA; four great-grandchildren, Z’maya Akira Williams, Zymeir Dominque Williams both of Farmville, NC, Keonte’ Cleveland of Winterville, NC and Ja’Netta Faith Williams of Brockton, MA; one daughter-in-law Sharon Williams of Farmville, NC; two sisters- in-law, Josie Williams of Dorchester, MA and Josephine Hardy of Brockton, MA; eight nieces, four nephews, five great-nieces, five great-nephews, a devoted friend, Mitchell Brown of Greenville, NC, other relatives, and friends.
