Ms. Sophia Elizabeth Lewis of Pantego, N.C. entered into eternal rest on November 12, 2021.
On Friday, November 12, 2021, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, N.C., Mrs. Sophia Elizabeth Lewis, joined her husband Mr. George Ben Lewis, entering a peacefully and eternal rest.
Sophia Elizabeth Lewis was born on May 4, 1927, to the late Samuel and Tennie Peartree in the district of Hyde County. She later moved to Norfolk, Virginia where she became a Nurse and then returned to the Terra Ceia Community to take care of her late mother Tennie Peartree. During that time, she also worked as a farm laborer. In 1966, she married the late George Ben Lewis and became a member of Queen Chapel Church of Christ in the Terra Ceia Community, Pantego, NC where the late Elder G.R. Lovick was a great inspiration in her life. She was a faithful, caring, and loving member who was determined to do God’s work. She was a choir member of Queen Chapel and a Treasurer of the Helping Hand Club. She served as a care giver to many, an excellent cook especially those pineapple cakes, and a pray warrior. Her favorite quotes were “I won’t complain, and Lord help me.”
Sophia was preceded in death by her husband, George Ben Lewis, 1 sister, Rena Whitney (Mack), 4 brothers, Joseph (Julie Mae), Samuel, Clifton (Nancy) and Eddie Peartree, one son-in-law, Charles Davis, Sr., one granddaughter (Kenya TramisePeele), and two grandsons (Timothy Peele and Sean Peartree).
