Ms. Rosa Minor Obituary

Ms. Rosa Minor of Edward, N.C. entered into eternal rest on March 26, 2022.

 

Rosa Lee Booth Minor was born September 15, 1930, to the late Henry Booth, Sr. and Sarah Becton Booth. She was the third of 10 children born of this union in Acre Station, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth David Minor, Sr., daughter- Cherri Lynn Minor, son-Kenneth David Minor, Jr., great-granddaughter Journey Coleman, two brothers- Henry Booth Jr., and Harry Booth and one sister- Annie Booth.

 

Her Service to Christ

At an early age Rosa became a dedicated and devoted member of Mt. Calvary Disciple of Christ in Acre Station, NC. She served as a member of the decoration committee where she sold spices to earn money to beautify the church. She served faithfully under the leadership of Elder Otis Norman and later Elder Lynberg White.

 

Her Journey

Rosa attended Beaufort County Schools. She furthered her education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC where she earned a degree in Home Economics. Later, she attended Elizabeth City State University where she received her second bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Rosa began her career as a schoolteacher at S. W. Snowden Elementary in Aurora, NC as a home economics, math & science teacher where she served and taught for 30 years. During Rosa’s time as an educator, she was the Chairperson of the Science Fair and was a faithful member of the North Carolina Teachers Association and the National Education Association.

 

Rosa enjoyed sewing and collecting recipes. She was a great cook. She not only cooked for her family but would feed the children of the neighborhood. She was loved by all whom she encountered. We cannot forget her favorite station to watch on TV. QVC!

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, Rosa was called into a peaceful and eternal rest at Vidant Beaufort County. Forever cherishing her loving memory are three daughters; Natalia Grayson of Chesapeake, VA. Uvonne Minor of Morrisville, N.C., and Sharon Wilson of Kinston, N.C.; three sons; Walter Minor Sr. (Susan) of Edward, N.C., Terry Minor (Barbara) of Wake Forest, N.C., and Bryan Minor Sr. (Alethia) of Edward, N.C.; a devoted daughter-in-love Debra Minor of Manson, N.C.; 17 grandchildren- four of whom she raised: Rod Moore (Tuyet), Tara Moore-Parker (Vaddrick), Dr. Shanean Anderson, and her near and dear to heart Brianna Wilson; 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers Samuel Booth, of Plymouth, N.C., and Charlie Booth (Francine) of Raleigh, N.C.; four sisters Catherine Everette of Portsmouth, VA, Carrie Randolph of Acre Station, N.C., Revonda Fields of Wilmington, N.C., and Daisy Bailey of Washington, NC; two sisters-in-law Lois Booth, Acre Station, NC and Thelma Booth, Washington, NC. Honorary relatives and cherished friendships; Dr. Daniel Williams (Karla) Monroe, NC, Cynthia and Cornell Justice of Edward, NC, Christine Forbes and the late King Forbes, James City, NC, Roy and Peggy Simpson, Washington, NC, Ethel Guion, Shirley Tyre, Aurora, NC, Beatrice Minor and Patricia Minor Edward, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and fellow teachers.
