Ms. Josephine Copeland of Washington, N.C. entered into eternal rest on January 14, 2022

Josephine Thigpen Copeland was born on May 6, 1952, to the union of Joseph Copeland and Hattie Keyes in Washington, NC. She departed this life on January 14, 2022.

Josephine Copeland received her formal education in the Beaufort County School System in Washington, NC. She later furthered her education at Beaufort Community College located in Washington, NC.

Josephine Copeland accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united Church of God #1 and later joined Temple of Jesus Christ with Bishop Woolard where she joyously served as a missionary.

Josephine Copeland was employed by Tideland Mental Health Center as a Billing Specialist where she worked with insurance until she retired.

In her leisure she enjoyed praying and was known to many as a prayer warrior. She would pray for all in need. She loved cooking, baking, and reading. Josephine was known by so many in the community for her sausage and oyster stuffing. She was also a family woman. She loved to spend quality time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Copeland and Hattie Keyes; granddaughter, Shantelle Pope; brother, Joseph Copeland, Jr.; sisters, Dolly Lawrence and Georgia Bell Sherrod; and stepfather, Fred Keyes.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memories: her children: Minister Juanita Copeland, Keisha Lawrence, Melvin Collins, Jr. (Contessa), Marvin Collins, Goddaughter Missionary Kindra Warren (Tylon), and daughter-in-kind, Tammy Lawrence; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers: Frank Copeland (Martha) of NY, Jimmy Copeland (Taiheisha) of MD, Benny and Mackey Copeland of Washington, NC; Billy Copeland (Gloria) of Grimesland, NC; Pete Copeland of GA, and Irvin Thigpen of AL; sister, Lorena Worsley of Washington, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
