Ms. Annie R. Windley of Chocowinity, N.C. entered into eternal rest on April 1,2021.
The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1
Mrs. Annie Ruth King Windley was the daughter of the late Timothy and Eather King; born on January 17, 1929 in Beaufort County. Mom had a sweet, gentle sprit. She had a way about her that did not allow life’s headaches, struggles and sorrows to be picked up by the naked eye.
Mother Annie Ruth had a unique sense of self, perseverance, an iron clad will, and an undeniable strength, that allowed her to rise above her own circumstances, able to cover all who might be around her, with an uplifting gentleness that would enable them to get through their worst times. She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many with sweetness, kindness, love and peace.
Annie Ruth attended the public schools of Beaufort County and was formally an environmental specialist at the Beaufort County Hospital’s laundry department for over 20 years. At an early age she united with St. Delight Disciples of Christ Church in Yeatesville, NC. When she moved to the City of Chocowinity, Annie Ruth became a member of the West Ninth Street Church of God where she served. Since 2001 Mom united with Cornerstone Family Worship Center, serving as a Mother of the Church under the leadership of Bishop Dr. and First Lady James S. McIntyre, Sr.
She was married to the late Robert Windley, Sr. for over 53 years prior to his death December 28, 2001. To this union God blessed them with six children, Robert, Brenda, James, Lester, Horace and Nathan.
Early Thursday afternoon, April 1, 2021, the Lord called Mother Annie Ruth home to be with him suddenly at VidantBeaufort County Hospital in Washington, NC. The “Clear call” came, and Annie Ruth took flight in peace.
