Mrs. Lynn Denise Smith

Mrs. Lynn Denise Smith of Greenville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on December 11,2020 at Pruitt Health in New Bern, N.C.

Lynn “Denise” Smith was born on March 2, 1947 in Greenville, NC to the union of the late John Wesley and Ruth Dixon Stephenson. She departed this earthly life on December 11, 2020.

Denise received her formal education in the Pitt County Schools. She always loved children and cooking. Denise worked as a Child Nutritionist with the Pitt County Schools System prior to her health declining.

Denise, in her leisure enjoyed music, cooking and playing cards.  She was known for her famous potato salad, chicken with rice and salmon cakes. Denise was well-loved by everybody.  Her home was the place to be on any holiday or occasion!!

She was preceded in death by her life partner, Horace Gordon; her father, John Wesley Stephenson, Sr., a brother, John Wesley Stephenson II, a sister, Sharon S. Staton.

Denise leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Layerlonna Smith, and Tara Staton, Greenville NC, two grandchildren, Tarjenay Heath (Charles) and Patrick Staton, Jr. one great-granddaughter Avah “Cupcake” Heath all of Greenville, NC; four sisters: Joyce S. Wooten, Rudena Stephenson and Catherine Stephenson, Greenville, NC and Madoline S. Hudson, Winterville, NC; one aunt, Earline Sherman and a host of nieces, nephews, several longtime friends - Janice Callahan, Donna Hall, Denise Hunt, Angela Edwards, Annette Spain, and Willie B. Latham; other relatives and friends.
