Mr. Willie “Teton” McGhee IV of Rocky Mount, N.C. entered into eternal rest on December 24,2020.
Willie “Teton” McGhee IV was born to Willie McGhee III and Gloristine Smith on June 10, 1979, in Williamston, NC. He departed this life peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020.
As a young boy, he accepted Christ at an early age. Wille attended elementary school in Martin County. By 1993, Wille and his family moved to Macclesfield, NC, where he later attended Southwest Edgecombe High School. He excelled academically and athletically. He loved playing sports. During his high school years, he was awarded Most Athletic in 1996 and 1997 for baseball, basketball and football. In addition, he received the Mike Fox Award for Athlete of the Year and many other trophies.
After graduating in 1997, he attended the Apprentice School at the Shipyard in Virginia. Shortly after, he gained employment with Wilson County School System. Willie worked at Fike High School as an Assistant Teacher for the Exceptional Children’sProgram. He was also the Assistant Coach for various sports.
In 2001, on December 22, he met the love of his life, Kendra Holley. Willie and Kendra’s love grew and flourished. In 2002 he guided the Fike Golden Demons Football Team to win the Conference Championship. A year or two later, Willie continued his profession at Daniels Alternative School in Wilson, NC.
In April 2003, he asked Kendra Holley for her hand in marriage and on June 25, 2005, they were united as one.
Wille was a jack-of-all-trades as he held several places of employment. He enjoyed repairing and restoring cars. In addition, he loved to cook, sing, dance, listen to the oldies but goodies and if there was a party, he most definitely was the lifeof the party. Wille loved visiting the Washington Water Front and traveling to the beach with his family. He also was a member of Golden Star #776 Lodge of Robersonville, NC. The simple things in life made him happy.
Wille was preceded in death by: his brother, Jason McGhee, maternal grandfather, Walter Smith, and paternal grandfather,Bishop Willie McGhee Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife of 15 years,Kendra Holley McGhee; one son, Jaylan Holley of Rocky Mount, NC; his mother, Gloristine Smith of Maccesfield, NC;his father, Willie McGhee III (Roslyn) of Rocky Mount, NC;three brothers: Andrew McGhee of Maccessfield, NC, Carl Smith of Knightdale, NC, and Wyton McGhee of Greenville, NC; one step- brother, Caleb, of Rocky Mount, NC; five sisters: Chelsea McGhee of Clarksville, Tennessee, Elizabeth Smith of Charlotte, NC, Ashley Smith of Knightdale, NC, London McGhee of Washington, DC, and Skye McGhee of Rocky Mount, NC; two grandmothers, Allie Smith of Everetts, NC, and RoseMary McGhee of Williamston, NC; mother & father-in law, Herman Holley Jr. (Dorothy) of Rocky Mount, NC ; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Barlow (Edward) of Rocky Mount, NC ,and Paula McCall of Raleigh, NC.
Willie also leaves his memories with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
