Mr. Adolph Bailey Obituary

Mr. Adolph Bailey of Belhaven, N.C. entered into eternal rest on March 12,2021 at his home.

Deacon Adolph Bailey Jr. was born February 2, 1930, on Groundhog Day, to the union of Adolph Sr. and Mary C. Bailey in Pinetown, N.C. He departed this life on March 12, 2021.

Deacon Bailey received his formal education in Beaufort County School System in Pinetown, N.C.

Deacon Bailey accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age under the leadership of Pastor W.L. Blow and was united with the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a choir member and chairman, Deacon, former trustee, former Sunday school teacher/superintendent, church steward, and district #1 steward.

Deacon Adolph Bailey Jr. was united in holy matrimony with Johnnie Gray Windley on June 17, 1951 in Yeatesville Community of Bath, N.C. Their union was blessed with five children.

He was employed by N.C. Department of Transportation as a bridge construction crew member. He held many positions during his time with the state until his retirement in July 1981. 

In his leisure he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and crabbing, and not to forget his love for western movies. He loved to watch Gunsmoke. He was a Past Mastor of Golden Towel Lodge #97 in Belhaven, N.C.

Deacon Adolph Bailey Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Rudolph, Richard, Larry, and Charles Bailey.

He leaves to cherish his memory his spouse Johnnie Gray Bailey; his children, Grover E. Bailey, Thurley G. Bailey both of Belhaven N.C., Venessa Small (Wayne) of Raleigh, N.C., Shelia Rodman (Elder Tony) of Bath, N.C., Felicia Becton (Ricky) of Grimesland, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; his sisters Harriet Bailey Mann and Deloris Bailey Gardner of Norwalk CT, Trudie Bailey Carter of Bath, N.C., one sister-in-law JoAnn Brimmage Bailey, one brother-in-law Ivory Windley (Faye); three special Goddaughters Ms. Lucy Tucker, Mrs. Teresa Whitney, and Ms. Lucille Waters; and a host of other relatives and friends.
