Mother Phyllis Davis Obituary

Mother Phyllis Gorham Davis of Greenville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on September 5,2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

 

“Let not your heart be troubled ye believe in God believe also in me. In my Father’s
house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a
place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive
you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” John 14: 1-3

Phyllis Gorham Davis of Greenville, NC, was born September 07, 1944, to the late Glaster and Elizabeth M. Gorham in Pitt County, NC. She peacefully answered her call to rest to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 5, 2021 @ 4:23 PM surrounded by her family. Phyllis attended the local Pitt County Schools. Phyllis was married to the late Johnny M. Davis Sr. Phyllis’ love for cooking led her to be owner and operator of Marie’s Diner in Wilson, NC. She was also employed with Shamrock Restaurant, Farmville, Guardian Care Nursing home, Farmville, Tom’s Restaurant Greenville, and Senior Village Nursing home, Greenville,NC.

Phyllis accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Reid’s Chapel MB Church in Fountain, NC. Phyllis was one of the steadfast founders of the Victory Chapel MB Church in 1993. Phyllis was an active member who served many roles Trustee, President of Senior Choir, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, President Kitchen Ministry, Beautification Ministry, contributor to the church newsletter, and Mother of Victory Chapel MB Church. She was also a member of the Faithful Club.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents the late Glaster & Elizabeth M. Gorham; her husband Johnny M. Davis Sr, her son Kevin Earl, and her daughter Gwendolyn D. Laughinghouse.

Mother Davis leaves to cherish her memory, her (5) daughters Wanda Tyson (Jeffrey) of Winterville, NC. Angela Jones (Clinton) of Hookerton, NC; Elizabeth Spencer (Charles) of Greenville, NC; Teresa Thaggard of the home; Tanya Dooley (Mack) of Greenville, NC; (2) sons Johnny Mack Davis Jr. (Karen) of Covington, GA and Kelvin M. Davis of the home, (5) sisters Glenda G. Hall of Washington, DC; Martha G. Dildy (JD) of Farmville, NC; Deloris G. Davis (Fred) of Greenville, NC; Yvonne G. Garris (Duane) of Ayden, NC and Gwendolyn J. Ellis of Farmville, NC (5) brothers Glasco Gorham Jr. of Capitol Heights Md, Anthony Gorham of Farmville, NC, Ricky Gorham of Farmville, NC, Stanley Gorham (Gloria) of Greenville, NC, and Clarence Moore of Farmville, NC. (24) grandchildren, (42) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. (2) Special and dear friends, Ms.
Pattie Sue Williams, and Mother Annie Ruth Dupree.
