Mother Iva Mae Burgess Davis was born on November 15, 1928, to the union of James Burgess and GeorgiaBurgess in Belhaven, NC. She departed this life on September 12, 2021.
Mother Iva Davis received her formal education in the Beaufort County School System in Belhaven, NC.
Mother Iva Davis accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united with White Plains Free Will Baptist Church which later changed to White Plains Church Ministries. Mother Davis was a member of thechurch choir as a youth and continued to sing even after she became a Mother of the church. She loved to sing, and she loved her church!
Mother Iva Davis was united in holy matrimony with Fred O. Davis on December 13, 1995, in Washington, NC.
She was employed by Clyde Potter Crab Manufacturer as a foods processor for thirty-two years.
In her leisure, she enjoyed watching tv, traveling, and tasting different types of delicacies. Mother Iva Davis was a member of the Belhaven Alumni, as well as an active member of different auxiliaries within the church.
Mother Iva Davis was preceded in death by: her spouse, Fred O. Davis; her parents, James and Georgia Burgess;sister, Mary Louise Simmons; and brother, Charles Burgess.
Mother Iva Davis leaves to cherish her memories;children, Faye Windley (Ivory) and Gary Burgess (Della); grandchildren: Felix Burgess (Kim),Terrell Windley (Latanya), Trondell Windley (Shannon),Tonya Robinson,Celida Albino, Jolisa Burgess, Sierra Burgess, Tory Harper, and Kelly Harper; one adopted Granddaughter Princess Topping; eighteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert Lee Burgess (Jackie); sister, Brenda Greene; aunt, Mittie Hardy; Japhonza Clark (Demetric), Darling Burrus, Sarah Brimmage, and Denise Dudley, all of whom she adopted as her own; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
