Mr. Matthew Wiley Hill, 63, of Washington, NC, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, in Greenville, NC.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day. 2Timothy 4:6-8
God in His infinite wisdom and own time summoned Matthew Wiley Hill from labor to reward on December 6, 2024, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville,NC with a lengthy illness from Throat Cancer. He survived 13 years with cancer and never complained.
Matthew was born on October 16,1961 in Washington, NC. He graduated from Washington High School and served in the Army for four years. Matthew worked at National Spinning Company for 25 years until his health started to decline.
Matthew joined Cherry Run AME Zion Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Amos West and remained there until his passing.
In his leisure, Matthew loved to watch football and was a die hard “Dallas Cowboy” fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Martha Hill; and his brothers, Horace Hill and Gary Worsely.
Matthew leaves cherished memories to: his wife of 35 years, Marva Lawrence Hill of the home; sisters, Delphine Chapman (Russell) and Sue Hill of Washington, NC; brothers, Roy Hill (Monika) of Belcamp, MD, Jimmy Hill and Clinton Hill of Washington,NC; brother in kind, Donnell Warren; two godchildren, Jatonya Hill of Kissimmee, FLand Rayshawn Campbell Ebron of Greenville, NC; sister-in-laws, Deborah Daniels (Willie) and Shenika Kinlaw; brother-in-laws, Rodney Kinlaw and Travis Kinlaw; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a dear friend and neighbor, Johnny Edwards.
