Ms. Louise "Noon" Knight 83, of Princeville, NC, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Louise “Noon” Knight was born on December 30, 1940 in Edgecombe County, NC to the late Walter and Mary Hattie (Jones) Knight. She went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Born the daughter of sharecroppers, she graduated from West Martin High School, Oak City, NC in 1960 and then migrated to Connecticut where her siblings had already established themselves.
After working a few odd jobs in the New London area, including the Garfield Belt Company, she dedicated the remainder of her career to the Electric Boat Shipyard in Groton, CT as a clerk typist. After working at Electric Boat for 26 years she retired in 2001 and returned home to Princeville, NC to take care of her father, Walter Knight.
For the next 20 years she cultivated a life in Princeville that included gardening, bowling and tinkering with the piano. Louise was a faithful member and mother of Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Gateway to Heaven Church.
Louise lived her life in rare fashion and lived by example. She was a faithful example of kindness and charity to her family, friends and all who met her, making an unforgettable mark. Her memory will live on and her family will rejoice in knowing that Louise will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
She is survived by her precious daughter, Tyra Shernell Knight of Meriden, CT and three sisters Juanita (Knight) Timmons and Christine Knight, both of New London and Shernell (Knight) Williams of Waterford, CT along with an abundance of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins who cherished her.
Louise is predeceased by her brothers Walter Jr., Jesse Lee, Edward James and Vernell Knight.
