Mr. Linwood Lee Whitney of Terra Ceia, N.C. entered into eternal rest on November 24, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Linwood Lee Whitney. Like a verse whispered in the wind, his name nickname, Leo, Pee Wee, resonates through the corridors of time, a symphony of remembrance. Leo peacefully departed this world on November 24, 2023, at the age of 66 in Pantego, North Carolina. He was born on August 22, 1957, in Pantego, North Carolina, Beaufort County. Linwood graced the world with his presence, a cherished soul who embodied the values of humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation. His journey of life was marked by devotion to family, service to his community, and a deep connection to his faith.
Linwood's lasting legacy includes his 24-year tenure as an Environmental Maintenance Worker for the City of Yonkers in New York. He retired and opened Odd N' Ends Variety in Pantego, NC. He showed his dedication and love by beautifying Terra Ceia neighborhood.
Linwood worshipped at Frist Baptist Church, where he found solace and connection.
Leo was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Whitney, his father, Jessie Whitney, his sisters, Vernesta Whitney and Victoria Whitney, his brother, Terry Whitney, his step-brother, Jeffrey Whitney, and his step-sister, Samantha Whitney.
Linwood Lee Whitney will forever be remembered as someone who brought joy, laughter, and a touch of mischief into the lives of those around him. May his spirit shine bright, even as he embarks on his next great adventure.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Lelia A. Whitney, his stepsons, Warren K. Bates, and Timothy Thomas. Leo is also survived by his siblings, James Barrow (Doris), Eunice Barrow, Tammy Whitney-Walton (Glenn), Tilmon Whitney, Jessie Whitney, Janice Price (William), Freeman Whitney, Angela Sutton (Cliff), James Whitney, Arnold Whitney (Shanekqua)y. Linwood will be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
