Lena Johnson Obituary

Mrs. Lena B. Johnson, 75, of Grimesland, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

On April 2, 2024, Evangelist Lena Ann Johnson was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her lovely family. She received the greatest grace of eternal peace, where there is no sadness or tears.

Lena Ann Johnson was born February 4, 1949, to Samuel and Ellen Daniels. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. She later joined Northeast Free Will Baptist Church under the leadership of Apostle Donnie McIntyre, where she preached her initial sermon and became an Evangelist. Years later, she joined White Oak Missionary Baptist under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Parker.

Lena was a native of Grimesland, North Carolina, and attended Pitt County Training School, where she received her education. She later attended Sir Walter Hair Academy where she received her cosmotologist license.

Lena was a hairdresser for 30 years, the owner of Sheer Elegance Beauty Salon, she had two separate locations Goldsboro, North Carolina and Greenville, North Carolina. She also took the passion in working in the funeral industry with Clarks Funeral Home and Peace At Sunset Funeral Home. She worked for Pitt County Schools as a monitor until her health failed. Doing hair was her passion.

Lena was preceded in death by her mom, Ellen Daniels; son, David Daniels; husband, Russell Johnson; three brothers, Tony Daniel, Jessie Stevenson, and Gus Jr. Roach; and sisters, Sarah Roach and Joan Godley.
Lena later met the love of her life, Ezekiel Cook in April 2021, and they joined in unity November 19, 2022.

Her life memories, smile, jokes, and willingness to help others will always be remembered and cherished by her devoted and loving husband, Ezekiel Cook; five sons, Darryl Daniels, Boris (Tinesha) Harris, David (Angie) Cook, Joshua Cook, and Kenneth (Linda) Cook; six daughters, Pamela Lewis, Kisha (Micheal) Young, Gwen Harris, Simone Morning, Colintia Bynum, and Brittany Cook; goddaughter, Demetrice Rodgers, and godson, Carlton Barr; eight sisters, Rosa Turnage, Ellen (Bobby) Bullock, Martha Wilson, Mary White, Phyllis (Wesley) Russell, Brenda (Louis) Bryant, Celia Perry, and Elizabeth Powell; four brothers, Linwood Daniels, David (Brenda) Stevenson, James Stevenson, and Roy (Angie) Roach; six brothers-in-law, William Cook, Joe (Joy Ann) Cook, Burnett Cook, Ronnie Cook, Calvin Cook, and Dan (Thresa) Cook; three sisters-in-law, Thella Fond, Thresa (Curtis) Fritss, and Sandra Cook; 27 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family members that she loved dearly; a very special little BFF, Madison Marcelin; and special friend, Rhonda Saulsbury.
