Kizzie Williams Obituary

Ms. Kizzie Mignon Williams, 44 of Tarboro N.C., passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Kizzie Mignon Williams was angelically gifted to this world on September 24, 1979, through her parents the late Johnnie Lee and Mary Anderson Williams. She received her final wings on May 22, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children and family.

Kizzie was born and raised in Edgecombe County, where she made her stomping grounds throughout Tarboro, NC from her childhood to her adult life. She attended Edgecombe County Schools and graduated from Tarboro High School as a proud “Viking” representing the class of 1997. She later furthered her education by becoming a certified nursing assistant and worked in the medical field until her health declined.

Kizzie was introduced to Christ at a young age and her parents grounded her in church, which resulted in her being involved in the youth choir and the young adult usher board. Her spiritual beginnings started at St. Luke Church of Christ in Princeville, NC but in her latter days she would visit various ministries.

Though her time was short and sweet, she left a legacy. Kizzie’s legacy included the profound mark that she made on other's lives through laughter, joking, offering good sound advice, and pouring into the people she loved and knew. Kizzie was particularly well known for her infectious laugh, her joyful spirit, and most of all her transparent, zero tolerance attitude. She was a true example of never meeting a stranger, and she always left you feeling inspired by either the conversation you had with her, or the sideline jokes she offered up just as you were ending the conversation with her.

Kizzie showed her family and friends her love for teaching, how much she valued encouraging others to follow through with their dreams, and what one could achieve with a bit of determination and faith in God. She was truly an inspiration to her younger cousins by teaching them their reading, writing, and arithmetic. Kizzie often told her younger cousins “I want you to do well in school and show them teachers what you are made of, always be your best, and do your best.” Many can attest to the fact, that she played an instrumental role in their learning above their grade level and succeeding academically. Kizzie also had a love for poetry and writing, often documenting some of the best language a paper can hold. She loved to cook, coming up with neat recipes, and she was unique in whatever way life presented itself. In addition, she loved her children, family, and friends with a genuine approach that made everyone who encountered her, fall in love with her. She was definitely a family’s favorite and will be missed for so many reasons that mere words can’t describe.

Along with her father and mother, Kizzie was preceded in death by her big brother Johnny Earl “Dogg” Williams.

Kizzie leaves memories that will be forever cherished to: her one and only son, Darrius Montrell Williams; her two daughters, Kayla Monique Williams “Big Baby” and Daniah Mignage Williams “Baby Girl” all of the home; three nieces, Sadeja Simone Wooten of Raleigh, NC, Ashely G’nell and Brittany Nichole Branch, both of Tarboro, NC; one nephew, Jaquan McCoy Williams of Tarboro, NC; five uncles; eight aunts; a special aunt, Ellen Pettaway of Tarboro, NC; special cousins, Billy D. Williams, Nika Taylor, Theresa Williams, Terrence Williams, Tee Lane, and Keisha Williams; best friends, Jessica Heath, Angela “Ann” Jones, and Monte McCray; and a host of other special cousins, family, friends and classmates.
