Mr. Kelvin L. Dickens of Cypress, Texas, formerly of Greenville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on May 30, 2023.
Kelvin Lynn (Billy) Dickens, the youngest of three children, was born May 13, 1955, in Greenville, NC to the late Frank and Luvenia Duncan Dickens. He departed this life to join the Church Triumphant on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Cypress, TX
Kelvin graduated from Rose High School in Greenville, NC in 1973. After graduation, he attended Pitt Community College for air conditioning and refrigeration. Upon completion, he worked at Harris Grocery and TRW before joining Proctor and Gamble for over ten years. While in Connecticut he worked at The Madison Company, as a welder, in Branford, CT. After relocating to Cypress, TX he worked at Kroger and FedEx prior to retiring in 2021.
Kelvin became a member of Holly Hill OFWB Church at an early age. He was a member of the Junior Choir at Holly Hill.
He was formerly married to Fannie Moye, and to this union one child, Cherish, was born.
He enjoyed fishing, grilling for the family, spending time with his friends, watching old Western movies and sports. His specialty was chopped barbeque.
Kelvin was preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter, Markeesha Taft Grant.
Left to celebrate his life and legacy one daughter, Cherish Dickens of Vanceboro, NC; three grandchildren, Rodzarilyn Jones, Rodnee’ Jones and Noah Andrews of Vanceboro; his wife, Varnessa Horner of New Haven, CT; two stepchildren Ashley Taft and Quincy Taft of New Haven; two sisters, Carolyn and Renay of Cypress, TX; a host of cousins and friends.
