Mr. Johnny Earl Gatlin, Sr, 74, of Greenville, NC, formerly of Washington, NC, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

The Life & Legacy of Johnny E. Gatlin, Sr.
Johnny Earl Gatlin, Sr. was born February 10, 1950, to the union of Isaiah Augustus Peterson, Jr. and Clara Elizabeth Gatlin in Brooklyn, New York.
Johnny was united with White Plains Church Ministries at an early age.
Johnny Earl Gatlin, Sr. was united in holy matrimony to Betty Mae Lynch on June 28, 1993, in Washington, NC. Their union was blessed with five children. He was enlisted into the United States Army as Executive Chef and was honorably discharged. He later gained employment at Pungo District Hospital also as an Executive Chef until he retired. In his leisure, he enjoyed collecting guns, playing computer games, online shopping and gaming. Johnny was also a devout Mason.
Johnny Gatlin, Sr. departed this life on November 22, 2024, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC. He was preceded in death by, his father, Isaiah Augustus Peterson, Jr.; mother, Clara Elizabeth Gatlin; siblings, Andre Peterson, Collette Peterson, and Isaiah Augustus Peterson, III.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Betty Mae Lynch Gatlin; children, Kenyetta Lynch, Xavier Devon Gatlin, Sr., Elic Jevon Gatlin, Johnny Earl Gatlin, Jr., and Johnnetta Earlexia Gatlin; grandchildren, Christinia Leandra Pittman, Kayden Strayhorn, Naomi Gatlin, Juniper Gatlin, L’naiya Gatlin, Xavier Devon Gatlin, Jr., Janiyah Kayleigh Gatlin, Giannis Jay Gatlin, Halo Jade Gatlin, and Aiden Kai Lynch; siblings, George Hogan, Sherman Dills, Harriet Peterson, Desiree Peterson, and Gay Whitfield; his best friend, Donnie Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
