Ms. Johnie L. Atkinson of Greenville, N.C. Entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2023.
Mother Louise Atkinson, daughter of the late Leonard Moore and Lizzie Mae Glasper, died Friday, February 24 at PAM (Post-Acute Medical) Hospital, Rocky Mount. She was born on April 25, 1940, in Pamlico County. She moved to Pitt County in 1955 and attended Pitt County Schools.
She joined English Chapel Freewill Baptist Church at an early age. She served on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee. She was ordained as a mother. She was a faithful member and loved her church family. She worked at Hamilton Beach and Carolina Leaf. Later in life, she became a childcare provider. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, decorating, and reading her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Atkinson Jr, two sons, Glenn Nelson Moore and Kenneth Earl Moore and four brothers Charles Moore, Shephard Moore, Bernard Moore and Jimmy Glasper, two sisters Maple Pearl Northern and Linda Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Joyce Atkinson of the home, and two sons, Jesse Atkinson and Frankie (Lisa) Atkinson of Greenville, NC, sister Gloria (Benjamin) Curtis of Grantsboro, NC two foster sisters, Carolyn Hardy and Gladie Miller of Greenville, NC, foster brother, George Miller, Jr of Greenville, NC, sister-in-law, Gloria (David) Jones of Greenville, NC, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
