Mr. John Mackey of Washington, N.C. entered into eternal rest on August 1, 2023.

John Lewis Mackey was born on July 6, 1949, to the union of Roy Lee Cooper and Alice Mackey in Washington, N.C.

John Mackey received his formal education at Washington High School in Washington, N.C. and was a graduate of the Class of 1967.

John Mackey accepted Christ as his Savior in September 2017 and was united with Paradise Christian Center where he served as a faithful disciple. He was employed by Beaufort County Hospital as a Nurse Aid and Washington Meat Packing Co. as a Food Processor. In his leisure he enjoyed Westerns, movies, and shows and going to church.

John L. Mackey departed this life on August 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Alice Mackey and Roy Cooper; Daughter, Avery Parker; Stepmother, Betty Cooper; Grandson, Hashawn Godard; Great grandchild, Xavier Satchel; Brother, Alexander Mackey; and Aunt, Alice Oliver.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Children, Alice Sneed, Katina Mackey, Lakeshia Langley, John Langley, and Laytanya Mackey; daughters of love, Pamela Grantham and Sianann Sneed; Grandchildren, Tashombee Jones, Shaneetra Biggs, Zy’Torain Godard, Jaquan Satchel, Da’Sean Hickman, Keon Langley, Ny’jae Langley, Jayce Langley, and Anyia Langley; Great grandchildren, Neelah Satchel, Owen Satchel, and Chelsea Jones; Stepsister, Debra Newton; Aunt, Mary Roundtree; and a host of other family and friends.
