Douglas Lee Lyons, 52 of Tarboro N.C., passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Douglas Lyons, affectionately known as “Dougie Fresh” or simply “Doug”, was born on August 30, 1971 to Perry and Bernice Lyons in Whitakers, North Carolina.
Douglas received his formal education from Edgecombe County Public Schools and was a proud 1989 graduate of North Edgecombe High School in Leggett, NC. After graduating from high school, Doug entered the workforce at Glenoit Mills of Tarboro, NC.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed grilling, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Doug departed this life on June 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Perry Lyons III and Donald Earl Lyons.
He leaves to cherish his memory: spouse, LaCreashoa Lyons of Tarboro, NC; son, Quentin Marquial Roberson (Lindsey) of Tarboro, NC; daughter, Breyonna Leona Batts of Rocky Mount, NC; three sons-in-love Qua’Tavius (Tae), Juwaun, and Marquise; Doug was also affectionately known as “Pops” by Derrick (DeeDee) and Stacie Tyson; grandchildren: Riley Naomi Batts, Elon Nasir Batts, Jayda Grace Roberson, and Kyrie Marquial Roberson; parents: Perry Lyons Jr. and Bernice Lyons; father and mother-in-Love: Bishop Vonzell and Minister Betty Pittman; sisters and brothers: Ronald Tillery of Battleboro, NC; Catherine Lyons and Julius Lyons, of Tarboro, NC; Dr. Gertrude Lyons of Raleigh, NC; Beatrice Lyons-Westry of Rocky Mount, NC and Jessica Lyons of Battleboro, NC; a brother-in-love, Vonzell Pittman Jr. (Charity), and an honorary brother Donald “Duck” Battle of Tarboro, NC; Doug also leaves to cherish his memory two aunts, Edna Burston and Frances Hawkins; Aunts-in-love Aunt Bren, Aunt Nancy, Aunt Tee, Aunt Diana, Aunt Pone, and Aunt Bobbie; and Uncles-in-love, Bobby Sawyer, Willie Little, Uncle Mike, Uncle Boot Jack, Uncle Barry, Uncle Earl, Uncle James and Uncle Tyrone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dougie Fresh also leaves special and forever friends to cherish his memory: “the Fellas from Highway 44/33 of Whitakers” and “the Panola Heights Club Members” of Tarboro.
