Mr. Donald Lee Sherrod of Tarboro, N.C. entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2023.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live - John 11:25 (KJV)
Donald Lee Sherrod was born on August 9, 1957, to the late Annie Boddie Sherrod and Donald Lee Sherrod in Edgecombe County. He was called to his eternal rest on Monday, November 20, 2023, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
He received his education from the Edgecombe County School System. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. For the majority of his life, he worked for the Budweiser Beer Company. After that, he was employed at Purdue Farms until his health collapsed.
Donald Lee Sherrod, aka Snap Jack or Rookie, will truly be missed. He had a passion for sports, playing basketball and softball, but softball was his favorite. He was a part of the Astros softball team, playing his famous position of second base, and he always ended up with skinned-up knees and elbows. He was a die-hard Redskin fan. He was definitely the life of the party, and he loved to dance. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing cards; spades were his game; spending time with his Panola Heights Crew; telling many jokes with his family and friends; and always ending his jokes with his favorite sayings, “You Got the Wrong Guy” or “You telling jokes.” He loved to talk about his daughters in his voice, “My Girls,” but he loved his grandkids the most, especially his grandboys.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers, Milton and James Sherrod, sister Carolyn Sherrod, and grandson Te’Naji Cherry.
He leaves to cherish his memories four daughters Jokita Phillips of Enfield, NC, Iesha White (Shawn) and Shayla Johnson of Tarboro, NC, and Quanita Johnson of the home; one goddaughter Chiquita Moten of Tarboro, NC; two brothers Robert Lee Boddie and John Sherrod of Tarboro, NC; one sister Shirley Williams (Leon) of Tarboro, NC; eleven grandchildren Lorenza, Jer’maiyah, Quan’Marri, Jakielyn, Quan’ Zi, Emir, Iya, Kinsley, Emiry, Ethan, and Ean; one uncle James Boddie (Annie) of Tarboro, NC; one aunt Lillie Mae Hagans of Tarboro, NC; two sister-in-law Angela Sherrod of Scotland Neck, NC and Patricia Sherrod of Tarboro, NC; special family the Pitt Family; special friends Rodney Davis, Jimmy Baker, Lee Station, Dee Maryland, Donald (Jap) Parker, Winston Bryant, Milton Spion, and Ricky Phillips and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
