Ms. Debra Joyner Taylor of Farmville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on March 3, 2023.
Deborah Ann Taylor “Debra T.” was born on December 10, 1947, to the late Moses Joyner, Jr., and Sarah E. Joyner Blount in Farmville, North Carolina. She transitioned this life on Friday, March 3, 2023, at ECU Medical Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina.
Deborah graduated with the class of 1966 from Rippowam High School in Stamford, Connecticut. In school, she was an avid basketball and hockey player. She was a sports fanatic and was knowledgeable in electronics.
As an adult, Deborah was a faithful member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church in Farmville, North Carolina. Later, she joined True Believers Church of God in Farmville, North Carolina, where she was a member for more than 16 years. She would often read the scripture for Sunday morning services, and she occasionally would do the welcome when her church traveled to another ministry.
Deborah was a people person and never met a stranger. She loved to talk and would engage with anyone who wanted a good conversation or a good laugh! She had a heart for seniors and she loved to help anyone that she could. She had an exceptional memory, and she always remembered birthdays and other important milestones. She loved to frequent Piggly Wiggly, the Dollar Tree, and Walmart. She was a very well-rounded person.
Deborah supported her family through various jobs. Over the years, she worked with Pitt County Schools as a crossing guard, also with Family Dollar, Empire Brush, and Burroughs Wellcome, where she retired from the sterile products department in 1997.
Although Deborah loved many things, the love of her life was Claude E. Taylor, who preceded her in death in August of 2019. They were married for over 50 years, and from that union, they bore three sons.
Deborah was preceded in death by one brother, David W. Aldridge of Greenville, North Carolina.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memories: her three sons, Aaron Taylor (Maria) of Greenville, NC, Derrick Taylor (Shindy) of Greenville, NC, and Eric Taylor of Farmville, NC; one sister, Jean Blount of Winterville, NC; two special friends, Lillian Kornegay of Greenville, NC, and Gloria Floyd of Farmville, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
