Mr. Charles Franklin Hardy, 76, of Greenville, NC, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at ECU Health, Greenville, NC.

Charles Franklin Hardy was born on January 12, 1948, to William Grimes and Bertha Mae Hardy in Greenville, NC.

Charles received his formal education in Pitt County Schools in Greenville, NC. He furthered his education at Pitt Technical College in Greenville NC.

Charles Franklin Hardy was united in holy matrimony with Brenda Joyce Newsome on January 20, 1989, in Greenville, NC and their union was blessed with one child.

Charles enlisted into the United States Army on November 30, 1967, and was honorably discharged on April 24, 1968. He was employed by ECU as a teacher, and he also worked for the Daily Reflector as well as Mr. C’s Lounge.

In his leisure time he enjoyed going to social clubs, hanging with his friends, building charcoal grills and watching Jeopardy.

Charles Franklin Hardy departed this life on September 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Joyce Hardy; father, William Grimes; mother, Bertha Mae Hardy; and grandmother, Bertha Mae Clemons.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Charles Kinte Hardy (Chrystal); grandchildren, Ashanti Hardy and Kamiah Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Jordan Johnson and Brayden McKnight; sister in laws, Mary Little (Bobby), Terry Gardner (Danny), Lula Harper (Leo), Sarah Williams (James), Donnel Newsome; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
