Cathy Hodges Moore

Cathy H. Moore, 66, of Washington, NC passed away July 18, 2024, at her home.  

Cathy Hodges-Moore was born in Washington NC on February 9, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Melton Hodges and Gracie Lee Hodges-Rodgers of Chocowinity NC. She went home to glory on July 18, 2024, in the comfort of her own home.

She attended Chocowinity High School where she was the captain of the cheerleading squad and homecoming queen. She attended Beaufort County Community College where she was educated in early childhood.

Cathy Moore was the director of the First Start University when she started her career in childhood. She spent 36 years as the co-founder of The Learning Center in Chocowinity NC. She was a member of Paradise Christian Center where she served in the youth ministry. As the youth leader she created a mime group called FOG that went out and won many shows.

Cathy was also given the opportunity to do something she loved to do and that was love. She was able to foster over forty children and nine families. And when we say, she cherished and loved, she enjoyed every moment that she was able to assist in their lives.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Earnest Moore of Washington NC; together they shared eight children, Christina Credle-Graham/ Atondi Graham Sr; Melaine Credle, Chand Keys, Mary T Simpkins/Robert Simpkins Adam Moore/Stephine Moore, Jeremiah Moore; Willie Moore, Mary Cassandra Moore; she also was an amazing grandmother to Atongi Graham Jr, Christian Simpkins, Nehemiah Credle, Ariyah Graham, Julius Simpkins, Jaiseon Credle, Isabella Moore, Rebekah Mccallister-Harvey; she was the big sister to Elton Hodges/Betty Hodges; Vanessa Hodeges-Royster/John Royster, Kevin Hodges/Marva Hodges, and Tatyanna Rodgers and a host of family and friends.
