Ben Allen Obituary

Mr. Ben Allen of Washington, N.C. entered into eternal rest on November 26, 2022.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.  Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.

                                                                                 II Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)

In Pantego, North Carolina on January 10, 1955, Taft and Essie Allen birthed the last of 8 children. They named him Ben. He grew up under the loving protection of 7 older siblings. Ben had an undeniable charm, a sparkling personality, an uncanny wit, and a never-ending amount of energy.  He loved delicious food, and he radiated the Love of God.

Ben attended Pantego High School and graduated in 1973. He was married to Archie Roberta Allen, who proceeded him in death.

His journey of Christian service began in his youth in Pantego, North Carolina.  He joined St. Mary Church

of Christ where he served as a Trustee until he moved to Washington, North Carolina. After relocating to Washington, he later joined the Washington Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Ben attended church faithfully and was always the first person there. Ben was a student of the word of God, and never missed an opportunity to be at church.

Ben demonstrated what serving with excellence is.  At church, he served faithfully in several capacities:  he was deacon, church custodian, parking attendant, assisted the kitchen committee and wherever else   he was needed. Whatever he did, he did wholeheartedly. Ben exemplified the true meaning of “one who gave his life to service.”

At church, Ben joined in Sabbath school and loved reading Mission stories to the congregation. Whenever we   talked with Ben, he never failed to say how much he loved the church, and how it was full of love.   Ben’s moto was “LOVE is always the answer”. He knew that love teaches us how to be kind, compassionate, giving, forgiving and   non-judgmental toward others.  Ben showed love by helping his fellowman whenever and wherever he could.

As one who loved deeply, lived unapologetically, served faithfully and worked tirelessly, Ben Alvin Allen was one whom God chose to call to rest from labor on November 26, 2022.

Those that proceeded Ben in death are his parents, Taft and Essie Allen, his brother Roscoe Smith and sister, Lutitia Allen.  Left to bask in the love he shared are:  sisters, Yvonne Fladger (NY), Doris Walker (Norfolk, VA), Clemstine Jones (William) Pantego NC, Brothers: Roy Allen (MS), Taft Allen (Pauline, NY), a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
