Argie Lee Atkinson Jones

Ms. Argie Jones of Ormondville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2023. 

Argie Atkinson Jones was called home in the early hours on Friday, February 24, 2023 at ECU Health Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born April 23, 1956 to the late Jimmy and Geraldine Atkinson. She was the third of their five children. She had one brother who preceded in her death: Johnny Ray Atkinson

  Facts:

Argie was very studious and completed her studies through the Greene County School system. She was very athletic for the majority of her years. The “Mighty Super Shocks” of Farmville, NC is where she showcased most of her talent as she covered the second base like no one else could. She followed the NCAA, NBA and NFL always. There was never a time that the Dallas Cowboys, UNC Tarheels or Boston Celtics played that she wasn’t glued to the television cheering for her favorite team.

Work Life:

Argie gathered her work ethic from her parents and began seasonal jobs and apparel work early in life. She worked at Collins and Aikman from 1993-2006 in Shipping and Receiving upon closure. Argie took this opportunity to continue her studies and completed the Medical Assisting program. She became gainfully employed with ECU Health Medical Center from 2008-2021 as a Central Service Technician. She retired in 2021.

Legacy:

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband; Thurman L. Jones Jr. of the home; children: Delvin(Tomica) Atkinson of Kinston, NC; Yashica Atkinson of Greenville, NC; Travoris Atkinson of Greenville, NC; De-James Stevenson; Nakayla Carter; Jeremiah Jones and Quincy Jones. She has 8 darling grandchildren and 1 great-grand that she loved dearly.

Three Sisters: Marjorie (Jimmy) Crandall of Greenville, NC, Doris Baker of Greenville, NC and Shirley (Dewey) Hargrove of Raleigh, NC. 3 Sisters-in-Laws Lucille Atkinson, Chameka (Wellington) Smith and April Prince and Darron Jones Brother in law.

Three Aunts: Connie Williams, Earnestine Joyner, Carrie Joyner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
