Mr. Alphonza Mayo of Greenville, N.C. entered into eternal rest on January 31, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Alphonza “Fago” Mayo was born June 19, 1950, to the union of Mr. Charlie Tyson and Mrs. Hattie Mae Mayo in Greenville, NC.
Fago received his formal education at CM Eppes High school where he was a standout in Football and Softball. He later entered the Armed Forces serving in the Army fighting the wars in Vietnam . He returned home and worked various jobs and still find time to play softball and have fun with his family. He loved sports, family events, Wrestling and Cowboy Western tv shows. He was employed by Lamar Mechanical as a HVAC technician until his health declined.
Fago departed this life on January 31, 2023. He was preceded in death by His mother& father, His sisters: Anita Joyner, Dorothy Ash, Gloria Teel, BJ Atkinson, Rosylin Mayo and Lillie Mae Smith, Carolyn Colbert, and Linda Tyson; Brothers: Ernest Hymond, Curtis Langley, James Tyson; Brother-in-law: Anthony Thomas; Neice: Tamara Joyner; and Nephew: Leroy Barnes.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Wife, Freda Mayo; Children: Dante Mayo (Kim), Mangus Daniels (Shukita), Shereeda Mayo, Sixta Daniels, Tyeesha Mayo (Jairus), Solita Mayo and Miquelle Mayo; His grandchildren: Darius Mayo, Imani Mayo, Devon Mayo, Datravion Daniels, Amore’ Arringon, Dontez Daniels, Dontavious Roberts Jr., Dante Mayo Jr., Tavaros Daniels, Nyla Westmoreland, Brianna Best and Shakeela Daniels. His great grandchildren: King Chase, Promyse Mayo, Choson Mayo, Kazimir Mayo and Legend Goddard. His stepmother, Maggie Harris. His Sisters: Maggie Wilson (Martin), Arominta Blake (Michael), Sara Charlene Thomas, Regina Langley (Roger)and Beverly Joyner, Jeanette Tyson (Eric), Brenda Tyson, and Mary Cook. His Brothers: Charlie Wooten and Larry Tyson (Joni) Brother-in-Law, Moses Joyner and a host of other relatives and friends.
